Water is asphalt's worst enemy. Grading is the answer.
Every pothole, sunken patch, and alligator crack you've ever seen started the same way: water ended up somewhere it shouldn't have. If the surface doesn't shed water properly, it pools, seeps in, freezes, and the base gives way. In Colorado, where winter flips between snow melt, rain, and hard freezes for months, a driveway with bad cross-slope is on a timer.
Colorado soil is its own beast
Front Range properties often sit on clay that swells when wet and shrinks when dry, plus a generous helping of cobble and sloped terrain. You can't treat a grade on rolling foothill ground the same way you'd treat one on flat prairie. We cut, fill, and shape for the soil and slope you actually have, not a textbook one.
